With the grateful thanks of all the team at Littleport Life community magazine – and the people of Littleport who receive the magazine in their letterboxes, thanks to our army of volunteers – including Carol who is now retiring after many years serving the community in this and other ways!
Carol told Littleport Life: “I have been sorry to finish my magazine delivery to the Holmewood Estate on Parsons Lane, i.e. Browning Close, Cottier Drive and Chamberlain Fields, but as we all know, all good things come to an end.
“I have enjoyed delivering to 157 houses and flats for the past several years, especially as part of the estate is on the site of the former Medway School, an annexe of the Littleport County Primary School, at which school I was a ‘dinner lady’ from 1968 until 1988. Working with the children was a job I enjoyed very much.
“While delivering the magazines, I have reminisced a lot, met some lovely people, shared cups of tea, laughed a lot and rested on a garden bench at Number 8. “I will encourage anyone who is able, to deliver magazines in your area or elsewhere, so that the whole of our village is covered.”
